DATA ANALYST - OPERATING ROOM

POSITION
Summary:
In collaboration with the Perioperative Business Manager, the Data Analyst abstracts and enters data to/from multiple databases and software systems.
Analyzes and prepares reports/presentations using various computer software products.
Audits surgical supply charges and ensure correct billing for the Surgical Services department.
Essential Functions:
Reporting/Data Analytics:
Uses knowledge of automated methodologies to enter and abstract clinical data.
Audits charges for the OR, Pre-op, PACU and ensures billing is sent correctly and on-time.
Performs data entry of core measures, clinical data, and other data collected.
Abstracts data and develops, generates, and distributes reports based on specifications and clinical needs.
Maintains and compiles data accurately across a variety of databases and mediums.
Compiles statistical and quality reports on a recurring and ad hoc basis and communicates the findings to the appropriate parties.
Works with the OR Business Manager to prepare, analyze, and disseminate reports as requested; develops, evaluates, and maintains presentations as requested.
Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends additional data that is available for further study.
Chart/Charge Audits:
Identifies missing charges and collaborates with staff to complete.
Audits billing data for example, ensures charted OR times to capture correct billed minutes.
Audits implant data entry to ensure correct charging.
Maintains CDM:
Identifies and coordinates requests from Lawson for new supplies.
Enters a new supply with required information into the CDM request file to initiate the process of getting a Lawson or CDM number.
Communicates the need for CDM's to be added to the Surginet program.
Completes CDM assignments for free-texted supplies.
Maintains current CDM database including new CDM assignment.
Communication:
Communicates to Registration, Admitting, Billing, Medical Records, and OR staff as needed to ensure billing accuracy.
Initiates steps to notify nurses or deficiencies in charting or charging.
Completes communications to billing, medical records, registration, and admitting as needed to correct account and billing information.
Professionalism:
Maintains utmost professionalism at all times.
Communicates with management/stakeholders to determine appropriate courses of action prior to enacting changes in processes.
Addresses request promptly and courteously, honors commitments, and displays persistence in obtaining information necessary for report completion, verification, or analysis.
Uses discretion and when appropriate, obtains approval prior to releasing sensitive information.
Upholds confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
Performs other related duties and projects assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field.
1-3 years of experience Recommended Skills Auditing Billing Clinical Works Communication Confidentiality Data Entry Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
